Technology at SSPP
Saints Peter & Paul Elementary is a 1:1 student device school. In grades Pre-Kindergarten 3 to Grade 2, students have access to a mobile tablet lab. All students in grades 3-8 utilize a Chromebook as a learning tool. All new text and instructional materials have online components. Google Classroom and various other applications are used across content areas to assist with differentiation, accessibility, and to meet the unique needs of 21st-century learners.
Our enhanced technology integration has significantly improved access to and effective use of student data to support remediation, intervention, and acceleration. Schoology, our Learning Management System (LMS), offers an interactive learning environment that strengthens student engagement, fosters communication between families and the school, and ensures greater accessibility and accountability across our learning community. It also serves as a valuable source of student performance data for both educators and parents. To monitor academic progress, students are assessed at least three times per year using Renaissance STAR 360, a formative benchmark assessment aligned with Diocesean, national, and state standards. This tool provides immediate, comprehensive insights into each student’s strengths and areas for growth. With this real-time data, educators can quickly identify learning gaps and implement targeted interventions to help students achieve proficiency. STAR 360 not only enhances instructional decisions but also promotes transparency and fosters open, ongoing communication between teachers and families.
To meet the diverse learning needs of our students, we employ dedicated Reading and Math Specialists who provide targeted support and intervention. In addition, our Student Data and Technology Specialist empowers educators with effective tools for differentiated instruction and offers guidance in analyzing student performance data to drive instruction. This specialist also leads relevant, hands-on professional development tailored to the immediate needs of our school community. Beyond supporting staff, they work directly with parents and students to enhance their confidence and proficiency with innovative digital platforms—ensuring that everyone is equipped to fully engage with today’s learning environment.
SSPP features a dynamic technology program that combines foundational skills with real-world applications. Students from PreK through Grade 8 explore a hands-on, STREAM-based curriculum (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Our technology program includes exciting tools such as 3D printing and emphasizes interactive, project-based learning designed to spark curiosity and innovation. Through integrated instruction, students gain an understanding of key terms, concepts, and data input strategies, empowering them to make informed decisions about technology and its many applications in everyday life.
